£470,000 needed for 'comfortable retirement'

Individuals wanting a comfortable retirement and enough money for care would need an estimated £470,000 in retirement wealth, according to wealth manager Quilter.

Using the PLSA’s Retirement Living Standards definition of what constitutes a comfortable retirement, a single person would need to build up a pot of around £360,000, in addition to the state pension, to cover a comfortable retirement lasting from 65 to 81.
