2023 eprivateclient 50 Most Influential Catherine Grum launched her own firm - Catherine Grum Consultancy. Ms Grum - who was also named as as a 50 Most Influential in 2015 and as an eprivateclient Top 35 Under 35 in 2012 and 2014 - had worked at BDO for the past two years as head of its family office services offering. She joined BDO in September 2020 from KPMG where she worked as head of family office since 2015.

UK law firm Trethowans added three equity partners – including its head of private client – having recorded ten percent growth in the last financial year. The firm’s head of private client, Mihiri Gajraj, qualified in 2009 and joined Trethowans in 2015. She is also a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and sits on the local committee. Joining her as an equity partner are Emma Wilders-Pratt and Karl Cameron. Ms Wilders-Pratt is a partner in the firm’s family team and head of Trethowans’ Winchester office and Mr Cameron is head of Trethowans’ commercial litigation team.

International law firm Withers promoted 11 lawyers to partner from across its private client and dispute resolution teams with effect from 1 July 2023. The new partners are based across Asia, the US and Europe in the firm’s Hong Kong, Singapore, New York, San Diego, Padova and London.

Crestbridge Family Office Services’ team in Jersey promoted five staff. The mid-year promotions, which took effect from 1 July 2023, include Clare Stotesbury, who becomes an associate director. In addition, Charlotte Williamson was made a senior manager whilst 2020 eprivateclient Channel Islands’ Top 35 Under 35 Melloney Bond was promoted to manager, and both Hannah Le Claire and Joel Lucas-Villar became senior administrators.

UK accountancy firm Kreston Reeves strengthened its private client legal team with two new solicitors. Jenn Trussler joined from Irwin Mitchell and Lily Parisi from Sussex law firm GWCA Solicitors. Both bring to the firm experience in advising individuals and families on wills, powers of attorney, probate and estate administration, inheritance tax and trusts. The 10-strong legal team at Kreston Reeves works alongside its tax and private client tax wealth management teams providing individuals and families with private wealth advice.

Professional services provider Evelyn Partners appointed Laurence Kiddle as head of technology and transformation. Mr Kiddle will provide support to businesses to help them manage tax and regulatory compliance. Mr Kiddle has spent over 20 years in tax technology. He trained as a tax adviser at Arthur Andersen and since then has held leadership roles in the Big Four advisory firms. He has been a partner in Deloitte’s tax management consulting team, a managing director of the EMEA business for Thomson Reuters and more recently chief executive at Arkk.

Trust and fiduciary services provider Saffery Champness made five promotions in Guernsey, including the appointment of a trust transformation manager. 2018 eprivateclient Channel Islands Top 35 Under 35 Joe Cardoso-Smale, who has been with the firm for 15 years, was promoted to the newly formed trust transformation manager role as part of Saffery’s strategy of driving efficiency and enhancing its service to clients. In addition to Mr Cardoso-Smale’s promotion, Saffery also promoted Alex Burt and Joe Wright to senior trust officer and Laura Bean and Hugo Russell to trust officer.

RSM UK appointed Joel Segal as partner to in its consulting team. Based in RSM’s London office, Mr Segal will be leading the firm’s business transformation solution, including the digital and data practice. Mr Segal was previously a partner at PwC for over seven and a half years and a partner at EY for over six years. In these roles, he advised the C-suites of FTSE, private companies and charities, across a range of sectors including consumer, industrial, energy, financial services, technology and professional services.

Former eprivateclient Top 35 Under 35 Louise O’Toole joined international law firm Trowers & Hamlins as a senior associate. Ms O’Toole, who was named as a Top 35 Under 35 in 2020, has joined the law firm from Gateley where she had worked since 2019. She had previously trained with Thomas Eggar LLP, now Irwin Mitchell, from where she joined Gateley.

Tax and advisory firm Blick Rothenberg made a record number of promotions from director to partner. Michael Holland was made a partner in the US/UK private client team. Ross Annand, who advises owner managed and entrepreneurial businesses, was also made a partner in the US/UK private client team. Chris Gillman, who advises families on the challenges they face by providing bespoke solutions, was promoted to partner in the trust & estates team. Tessa Jones, who advises the firm from a dedicated risk and compliance perspective, was made a partner in practice compliance. Bal Lota  has been made a partner in the global mobility team. Finally, Mark Cunningham, who specialises in audit, UK financial reporting and advisory services, was promoted to audit partner.
