A rundown of the ten most read people moves to feature on eprivateclient in October 2022...

1. (25/10/22) Private wealth law firm Boodle Hatfield elected Andrea Zavos as its new senior partner.

She will succeed Sara Maccallum – who has held the role for eight years - on 1 May 2023. Ms Maccallum will retire after 20 years with the firm.

A 2022 eprivateclient 50 Most Influential, Ms Zavos is head of the private client and tax team and has been with the firm since 2014.

2. (10/10/22) Newly founded independent trust company - Renaissance Trust - appointed Scott Clayton as managing director.

Mr Clayton has over 30 years' experience in the fiduciary services industry. He is involved in the creation, management and termination of UK trusts, charities and private client affairs.

3. (06/10/22) EY appointed Rodger Heeley as a partner in its management taxes and transactions (MTT) team.

Mr Heeley joined EY following 20 years at big four competitor PwC. He was a tax manager for PwC Australia and a director for PwC UK.

At PwC, he initially worked as part of the private client group before focusing on advising on equity incentive arrangements in private businesses.

4. (17/10/22) Wealth management and professional services group Evelyn Partners appointed Matt Hughes as a private client tax partner. Mr Hughes joined the firm’s professional services team in Birmingham.

He joined Evelyn Partners from big four accountancy firm PwC where he worked for the last 12 years - most recently as a director. Before becoming a director, he started as a tax adviser and then became a senior manager.  

5. (07/10/22) Equiom Group appointed Jonathan Jennings as its new group chief executive.

Mr Jennings joined the firm from JTC where he was its group head of institutional client services for over three years. In this role he led JTC’s global funds corporate business lines.

Prior to this, he was a managing director at the firm for almost five years.

6. (25/10/22) Independent, owner-managed trust, fund and pension services firm Fairway Group appointed Dominique Burnett as a trust director. 

Ms Burnett joined Fairway from Suntera Global, where she was a client services director.

During her 20 years in the trust sector, she has been a director at trust companies based in Jersey, Switzerland, Singapore and Auckland.

7. (07/10/22) Law firm Stewarts appointed Marcus Parker as a partner for its trust and probate litigation team.

In his new role, he will be focusing on disputes involving the offshore jurisdictions. Mr Parker joined from Harbottle & Lewis where he was a partner for nearly two years.

He has over 20 years’ experience in the private client industry as both a lawyer and - for the last eight years - as a professional trustee in the Cayman Islands.

8. (20/10/22) Global fiduciary services provider Hawksford appointed three to its private client services team.

Jennie Ekedahl joined as managing director of private client services, Tony Simao joined as director and Lesley O’Neill joined as associate director.

With these hires, Hawksford - 2022 eprivateclient Top Trust Company  – aimed to strengthen its private client offering and supporting the group’s growth strategy.

9. (13/10/22) Corporate and private capital partner Richard Elliott joined Boodle Hatfield from Ince.

Mr Elliott advises on M&A and joint ventures, corporate finance, real estate finance and structuring for private clients particularly with an international focus.

His practice includes advising on asset finance matters, specialising in the sale/purchase, financing and structuring of aircraft assets, including business jets and helicopters, as well as luxury yachts.

10. (18/10/22) London law firm Payne Hicks Beach continued its growth strategy with the appointment of James Townsend as a partner and co-head of the firm's employment department.

Mr Townsend specialises in statutory and contractual disputes involving employees, directors, agents, consultants, workers and partners, as well as collective consultation issues, executive terminations, High Court injunctions (especially team moves) and the domestic employment aspects of national and international business mergers and acquisitions.
