World cup costs equivalent to 112 percent of Qatar's GDP

The 2022 World Cup is one of the most expensive in terms of the level of investment, research by Alliance Fund revealed.

Alliance Fund analysed data on the cost of every World Cup since Italy in 1990, taking into account the money invested into infrastructure, as well as the cost of building new or updating existing stadiums. This cost was adjusted for inflation.
