Creating a culture where staff feel able to stage an intervention for their manager is no easy feat – but this is exactly the situation at Swedish bank Handelsbanken.

Tracey Davidson, deputy chief executive of Handelsbanken in the UK and chair of Heartwood Wealth Management, shared a story of how one senior colleague’s staff felt so confident in the Bank’s culture and how things should be that they staged an ‘intervention’, over coffee and cake, to tell him that he was not behaving in a “Handelsbanken way”.
