Berenberg has shut its UK private bank, thewealthnet understands.
The decision is thought to have been taken in anticipation of increasing cost pressures.
Those close to the matter said staff got up and walked out of the office after the announcement had been made.
The closure is effective immediately. All UK private banking operations have ceased. Its staff have all lost their jobs too.
