Covid-19 highlights issue of gender financial inequality

Gender pay gap reporting enforcement may have been suspended this year, but that doesn’t mean the core issue of gendered financial inequality has been too.

According to research from Close Brothers Asset Management, women score below men in all seven areas of financial wellbeing, meaning that they enter the current period of financial uncertainty at a significant disadvantage.

A quarter of women (26 percent) admitted to struggling to make their money last until pay day prior to the coronavirus outbreak. Just 13 percent of men said the same.
