Officially, Karen Frank resigned last week as CEO of Barclays Private Bank in what was called a “personal decision”.

Unofficially, this talented banking leader may have been pushed out for reasons that remain a mystery—at least for now. But keep perusing, dear reader.

The City rumour mills – or, nowadays, the Zoom screens – have come up with plenty of explanations for her exit, some more plausible than others.
