NatWest faces multi-million fine for money laundering offences

NatWest has pleaded guilty to money laundering charges.

The bank entered guilty pleas at Westminster Magistrates’ Court yesterday (7 October) to criminal charges brought by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) under the Money Laundering Regulations 2007 (MLR 2007).

As a result, the bank will face a fine, which could be as much as £340 million. The exact amount will be announced by Southwark Crown Court at sentencing.
