RBS CEO resigns, fueling rumours of female successor

Ross McEwan, chief executive of RBS, has resigned, reigniting rumours that private banking head Alison Rose could succeed him.

Mr McEwan has a 12 month notice period and will remain in his position until a successor has been appointed and a handover has taken place. His exact departure date is yet to be confirmed.
