1. (21/03/2022) International law firm Stephenson Harwood bolstered its private wealth offering with the lateral hire of Jonathan Conder from Macfarlanes. Mr Conder - who was named as an eprivateclient 50 Most Influential between 2014 and 2017 – had spent the past 30 years at Macfarlanes, including the last 25 years as a partner and was formerly head of the firm's private wealth practice. 

2. (25/03/2022) Jersey-headquartered trust and family office services provider Highvern appointed Anna Malorey as its new chief operating officer. A chartered accountant by training, Ms Malorey was previously head of operations at both R&H Trust Co (Jersey) Limited and Ocorian before joining Highvern.

3. (14/03/2022) Global fiduciary services provider Intertrust named Stuart Dowding as its new head of private wealth, Guernsey. Mr Dowding – who was named as an eprivateclient Top 35 Under 35 in 2010 – has taken over the role from Alison Parry who became global head of private wealth at Intertrust.

4. (08/03/2022) London law firm Howard Kennedy hired James Meakin as partner and head of tax. Mr Meakin will focus on the tax aspects of corporate and real estate transactions, including M&A, group reorganisations, venture capital, joint ventures and private equity, from both a domestic and cross-border perspective.

5. (28/03/2022) London family law firm Dawson Cornwell hired veteran divorce lawyer Simon Bruce as a partner. Mr Bruce, a former president of the Family Law Commission of the Union Internationale des Avocats, joins Dawson Cornwell after a 38-year career at Farrer & Co. He has acted in six Supreme Court cases, most notably for German heiress Katrin Radmacher in the landmark 2010 ruling that saw prenups and postnups made legally binding in England when they are fair, and for Yasmin Prest against her multimillionaire oil tycoon husband in the 2013.

6. (01/03/2022) UK law firm Cripps Pemberton Greenish hired Nick Gova into its family law team as a managing associate. Mr Gova has joined the firm from Harrison Clark Rickerbys (HCR) where he headed up its London family division. Mr Gova is experienced in dealing with family law matters with an international element with particular emphasis on Shari’a law and Islamic divorce, having fostered strong relationships with the Islamic Shari’a Council (an authoritative body for Islamic law). 

7. (10/03/2022) Global offshore law firm Harneys announced that partner Rachel Graham has been appointed managing partner of the firm’s London office. Ms Graham joined Harneys in 2007 and heads the firm’s BVI corporate transactional practice in the EMEA region. She advises corporations, high net worth individuals, entrepreneurs, financial institutions, seed capital investors, private equity funds and their advisers, and is the client relationship partner for several of the firm’s key clients.

8. (01/03/2022) UK accountancy firm Kreston Reeves strengthened its private client tax team with the appointment of experienced tax specialist Paul Webster. Mr Webster has joined the firm from Wheelhouse Advisers where he was its head of private client tax.

9. (17/03/2022) The Maples Group expanded its fiduciary services offering in Jersey and London with two senior appointments to its global team. Structured finance specialist Emma Tighe joined its London office as vice president, while wealth management specialist Jodie Gray joined its Jersey office, also as a vice president.  The firm said both appointments were in response to sustained demand among clients in this region for specialist corporate and fiduciary services. 

10. (22/03/2022) Offshore law firm Walkers hired Helen Munro as a senior counsel in its Jersey office. Ms Munro is a specialist in Islamic finance, having spent the last 11 years practising in the Abu Dhabi office of international law firm Dentons. Ms Munro is the fourth new hire for Walkers in the last six months. Her arrival further strengthens the firm’s Jersey office, which is led by partners Nigel Weston and Alexandra Corner, and group partners Jon Le Rossignol and Tristan Maultby.
