1. (07/11/22) London law firm Farrer & Co appointed Jennifer Ridgway as a partner in its private client team.

Ms Ridgway advises high net worth individuals both in the UK and internationally. This involves advising trustees on matters such as landed estates, as well as families and individuals on trusts, succession, and tax planning.

In her new role, Ms Ridgway aims to strengthen the team’s offering for complex onshore and offshore needs.

2. (01/11/22) Maurice Turnor Gardner appointed former eprivateclient Top 35 under 35 Fiona Poole as head of private wealth. 

Ms Poole joined the firm in 2010 from PwC where she specialised in international private client tax. She was promoted to partner in 2017. 

She has taken over the role from MTG's senior partner, co-founder and former eprivateclient 50 Most Influential - Clare Maurice.

3. (03/11/22) Fiduciary services provider Vistra named Simon Webster as its new chief executive.

He succeeds Alan Brown, who is stepping down after three years.

Mr Brown became the chief executive of Vistra in 2019.

4. (14/11/22) Former Accuro client services director Richard Tribe joined Nedbank Private Wealth as a senior private banker.

Mr Tribe joined Accuro Jersey last year and was there for six months.

Most recently, he was the head of fundraising & communication for Jersey Hospice Care for seven months.

5. (28/11/22) London law firm Payne Hicks Beach appointed Sara Morgan, a specialist in UK taxes of international high net worth individuals, as a partner in its private client team.

Ms Morgan joined the firm from Fieldfisher and has experience in advising on personal taxation, trust and estate planning for high net worth and ultra high net worth individuals and trustees, particularly where there is an international dimension.

She moved to Fieldfisher with the Linklaters trusts team.

6. (08/11/22) Highvern appointed former Top 35 Under 35 Kerrie Le Tissier as director for its private wealth business in Guernsey.

Ms Le Tissier has worked for a number of offshore law firms in Jersey and Guernsey.

This included: being a senior associate for Collas Crill for two years; a senior associate for Bedell Cristin for just over three years and later re-joined to became a partner; and a senior associate for Ogier for nearly eight years.

7. (16/11/22) EY Private appointed four new partners: Carol Hipwell, Lucy Townsend, Mike Reade, and Steve Butler.

Ms Hipwell has over 30 years’ experience in advising families and individuals on US tax. She specialises in the taxation of pensions, foreign tax credits, expatriation, and taxation of US non-residents and green-card holders.

Ms Townsend is a US and UK tax adviser. She advises individuals moving between both jurisdictions and has experience in the tax reporting regulations and requirements on both sides.

Meanwhile, Mr Reade has been at EY almost 12 years and specialises in transaction tax, having joined as an assistant director of transaction tax in 2012, before becoming a director or transaction tax in 2016.

Finally, Mr Butler works with US and UK business as well as private equity and asset management operations.

8. (04/11/22) Crestbridge appointed Laura Parkes as a director in its family office services team.

Her appointment is part of the firm's plans to strengthen its proposition for supporting the complex needs of global families.

In her new Jersey-based role, Ms Parkes will work with the firm’s multijurisdictional team to ensure clients benefit from its fiduciary services. As well as working with Crestbridge Fiduciary, she will work with the firm’s US joint venture with Willow Street.

9. (02/11/22) National law firm Freeths made several senior promotions across its UK offices in its annual promotion round.

A total of 78 employees were promoted, with seven being promoted to partner.

Private client lawyer Louise Lewis was promoted to partner and joint head of Oxford trusts, estates, and tax.

10. (25/11/22) Multi-family office services provider Stonehage Fleming hired Jersey-based Laura Perkins as a senior trustee.

In her new role, Ms Perkins will be responsible for managing assets held in trust on behalf of beneficiaries, acting on boards of corporate trustee and corporate director companies in a number of jurisdictions.

Ms Perkins has joined Stonehage Fleming from offshore law firm Collas Crill where she was a group partner, a position she was promoted to in 2020.
